Accused in New Year’s Day Homicide Released, Arrested for Bail Violation

At approximately 4:00PM on April 29, 2021, members of the North Bay Police Service arrested and charged Ghislain NSENGIYUMVA with Breach of Release Order, after he was released from the North Bay Courthouse.

Ghislain NSENGIYUMVA, male, age 20, of Orleans, Ontario, is alleged to have killed 29-year-old North Bay resident Jeff TWAIN and alleged to have assaulted two adult females on January 1, 2021.

On January 2, 2021, members of the North Bay Police Service arrested and charged Ghislain NSENGIYUMVA with:

  • One Count of Second Degree Murder;
  • One Count of Utter Threat to Cause Death;
  • One Count of Assault with a Weapon; and
  • Two Counts of Assault.

The accused was released by the courts on bail on April 29, 2021.

After his release, NSENGIYUMVA is alleged to have violated his bail conditions. At approximately 4:00PM on April 29, 2021, NSENGIYUMVA was arrested by members of the North Bay Police Service and charged with:

  • One Count of Breach of Release Order

The accused will be held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
