Call results in Domestic Assault charges

On Saturday police responded to a person in distress at their residence in North Bay. The investigation resulted in the arrest of a 34 year old man from North Bay. He has been charged with;

  • Eight counts of Assault;
  • One count of Uttering a Threat;
  • One count of Forcible Confinement; and
  • One Count of Assault with a Weapon.

It is alleged that the accused and the female victim have been in a relationship for several years. In the afternoon of September 7th 2019 the accused became angry with the victim and struck her in the head with his hand. The victim retreated to a different room and called the police.

Police arrived at the residence in the west end of the city and arrested the accused. The victim divulged a history of assaultive behavior that had occurred in the last year of their relationship.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.

In order to protect the identity of the victim, the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing the name of the accused.
