Gun Amnesty

April 6, 2018

In partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police, the North Bay Police Service is holding a Gun Amnesty program during the month of April 2018.

The Gun Amnesty is for any Ontario resident who wishes to voluntarily surrender unwanted or illegally-owned firearms, weapons, accessories or ammunition. North Bay Police will facilitate this proactive initiative for the City of North Bay and Calendar.

The Amnesty is a way to provide residents with a safe way to surrender weapons and enhance public safety. During the Amnesty, police will not recommend weapons-related Criminal Code charges that might otherwise apply to people who are turning in these items.

*Please note that there is no Amnesty offered for people who turn in items that have been used in the commission of a crime. No anonymous submissions will be accepted.*

Interested gun owners are urged to call the North Bay Police Service (or OPP where applicable) to arrange for officers to attend and safely retrieve the weapons. Residents of Calendar and North Bay can call the North Bay Police Service’s non-emergency number at 705-472-1234 to make an appointment with a Police Officer.

Under no circumstances should anyone deliver guns or ammunition directly to police facilities.
