Media Release: Collision on Lakeshore Drive: Motorcyclist now in Stable Condition

May 7, 2025

On Sunday May 4th 2025 at approximately 1:01pm, the North Bay Police Service, North Bay Fire and Emergency Services, and Paramedics responded to a 3-vehicle collision at the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and Premier Road. A 33-year-old female driver of an SUV departed a private driveway and struck an 18-year-old male driver of a motorcycle on Lakeshore Drive, which caused him to lose consciousness.

A second motorcycle, being operated by another 18-year-old male, had been moving in tandem with the first, and although its rider took evasive manoeuvres to avoid the collision, he too became involved and sustained minor injuries.

Both motorcyclists were transported to hospital. The first motorcyclist remains in hospital care, where his condition has improved from critical to stable. The second motorcyclist has been released from hospital care. The driver of the SUV was not injured.

Temporary barricades were erected to reroute traffic in order to protect the scene while NBPS Patrol Officers investigated, assisted by a Collision Reconstructionist and two Traffic Collision Investigators with the Ontario Provincial Police Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team.

The driver of the SUV was charged with Fail to yield from driveway, contrary to section 139(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
