Youth Charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm

On March 31st, the North Bay Police Service received a call for service in relation to a male youth who had sustained significant injuries after being attacked by another male youth. As a result of the investigation a 14-year-old young person has been charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm.

Officers were called to attend a local elementary school on March 31st around 5:30pm, in relation to a young person who had been attacked by another youth, during a pick-up basketball game. During the game, the accused charged at the victim, punching him in the face several times. The attacker then threw the victim to the ground and kicked him in the face and ribs. Other players attended to help the victim, and the accused fled the area on foot. An ambulance was called, and the victim was transported to hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

Officers from the North Bay Police Service arrested the accused later that evening. He was transported to North Bay Police Service headquarters, where he was charged with one count of Assault Cause Bodily Harm. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

In accordance with Canada’s Youth Criminal Justice Act, the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing the name, or any other information, that may lead to the identification of the accused.
