The North Bay Street Crime Unit working in conjunction with front line Officers have arrested and charged:
James MITCHELL, age 27, of North Bay with:
One count of Break, Enter and Commit Theft;
Five counts of Theft under $5000;
Three Counts of Breaching a Recognizance of Bail
One count of Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Purple Fentanyl)
One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime; and
One count of breach of probation.
It is alleged that a business on Main Street West was broken into on February 4TH, 2019. The investigation revealed that James Mitchell was responsible. He was located and arrested on February 15th, 2019. A search incident to arrest revealed a small amount fentanyl and police also seized $1405.00 in Canadian Currency.
Once in custody it was determined by way of video evidence that the accused was the responsible person in a number of theft incidents occurring in North Bay involving the theft of expensive colognes, liquor and clothing items. The total value of the stolen merchandise in all five thefts is approximately $4179.99.
The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse on February 19th.
The identity of the second person involved in the Main Street West break in has still not been identified. The investigation continues.
