North Bay Police Service Constable Charged with Assault

On January 27, 2022, a member of the North Bay Police Service was arrested and charged with Assault.

At the request of the North Bay Police Service, in order to ensure objectivity and protect the integrity of the investigation, the Ontario Provincial Police will be conducting the criminal investigation into this matter.

The accused in this incident is Daniel SHEPSTONE, male, age 46, who has been employed by the North Bay Police Service for 16 years and currently serves as a Police Constable in the Uniform Patrol Section.

As a result of an interaction on January 18, 2022, between the victim and accused at the North Bay Regional Health Centre while the accused was on duty, Constable SHEPSTONE was arrested and charged with Assault by the Ontario Provincial Police on January 27, 2022. The victim sustained minor physical injuries as a result of the incident.

The North Bay Police Service will be conducting a Police Service’s Act investigation into the conduct of Constable SHEPSTONE in this incident upon receipt of additional information from the investigating service.

Pending further information, Cst. SHEPSTONE will continue in his role as Police Constable with the North Bay Police Service. At this time, he has been reassigned to administrative duties within the Police Service.
