North Bay Police will Retrieve Unwanted Firearms, Ammunition, Weapons, and Explosives

The North Bay Police Service is reminding the public that officers can retrieve unwanted firearms, ammunition, weapons, and explosives free of charge from your residence. These items should not be brought inside the police station.

As spring cleaning and decluttering carries on into the summer months, many indiviudals may discover they are in possession of unwanted, unsafe or potentially illegal firearms, ammunition, weapons, or explosives. The North Bay Police Service makes it easy to safely dispose of these unwanted items: Officers can attend your residence to retrieve the unwanted items. All you need to do is call the North Bay Police Service at 705-497-5555, provide details about the item you wish police to retrieve, and set up a time for an officer to attend your residence. This retrieval service is provided by the North Bay Police Service free of charge.

Please DO NOT deliver these items in person to the North Bay Police Service headquarters. Transporting these items could be dangerous and weapons of any kind are not permitted inside the North Bay Police Service headquarters.

Recently the North Bay Police Service has had several incidents of individuals entering the police station with a weapon seeking to deliver the weapon to police for destruction. All these incidents were resolved safely for everyone involved, but the Police Service reminds the public that weapons are not allowed inside the police station. If you must attend in person, please leave the item in your vehicle. Officers will meet you outside the station to retrieve the item.
