Police Arrest, Charge Woman with Assault with Weapon

On May 11, 2022, members of the North Bay Police Service arrested and charged a 21-year old woman for assault with a weapon.

The accused in this incident is Joanne AGAWA, female, age 21 of North Bay, who is charged with:

  • One count of Assault with A Weapon
  • One count of Theft Under $5000
  • Two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order

On May 11, 2022, the accused attended a business on Fisher Street, North Bay, gathering items in a shopping cart totalling approximately $735 in value and attempted to leave the business without paying for the items. An employee of the business confronted the accused who brandished a handheld blowtorch and attempted to assault the victim with the weapon. Police were contacted at which point the accused fled the area. The victim did not sustain any injuries.

Members of the North Bay Police Service located and arrested the accused at the corner of Trout Lake Road and Highway 11/17.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
