Police Charge Man with Assault

On July 31, 2022, members of the North Bay Police Service arrested a 37-year old man on Assault charges.

The accused in this incident is Paul John HILLIER, male, age 37, of North Bay, who is charged with:

  • One count of Assault
  • One count of Assault Causing Bodily Harm

On July 31, 2022, at approximately 3:15 p.m. the two victims were in a parking lot on Algonquin Avenue, North Bay. The accused was also in the area and verbally accosted the victims, at which point the victims verbally responded to the accused and attempted to leave the area. While attempting to leave the area, the accused pursued the victims and physically assaulted the male victim. The female victim attempted to intervene in the assault, at which point the accused assaulted the female victim.

The accused fled the location prior to police arrival. Police arrested and charged the accused later that day.

Both victims sustained minor, non-life threatening injuries. The female victim was transported to hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The accused and victims are not known to one another. No weapons were used in the assault.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
