Police Charge Three with Weapon Offences

On December 9, 2022, members of the North Bay Police Service arrested a 26-year old male, a 22-year old male, and a 46-year old male on weapon charges.

The accused in this incident are:

Aaron BROWN, male, age 26, of Welland, Ontario, who is charged with:

  • One count of Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • One count of Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • One count of Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
  • One count of Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
  • One count of Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • One count of Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm
  • One count of Obstruct Peace Officer
  • One count of Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • One count of Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • One count of Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis in open original packaging
  • One count of Carless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition
  • One count of Breach of Recognizance

Yassin HEGAZY, male, age 22, of St Catharines, Ontario, who is charged with:

  • One count of Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • One count of Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • One count of Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
  • One count of Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm
  • One count of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • One count of Carless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition

Jason JASMIN, male, age 46, of North Bay, who is charged with:

  • One count of Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • One count of Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • One count of Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
  • One count of Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm
  • One count of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • One count of Carless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition

On December 9, 2022, members of the North Bay Police Service received a traffic complaint regarding a vehicle being operated by the accused. A member of the Ontario Provincial Police located the vehicle at a gas station on Algonquin Avenue, North Bay. Members of the North Bay Police Service arrived at the located and located the accused in the vehicle. Numerous open and empty alcohol containers were also observed within the vehicle. The accused were arrested and charged by police.

Searches by police resulted in the seizure of:

  • A handgun, loaded magazine, and accompanying ammunition
  • A crossbow
  • Two pre-rolled cannabis “joints”
  • Two 750mL bottles of alcohol

The accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
