Police Charge Young Offender with Aggravated Assault

On October 1, 2022, members of the North Bay Police Service arrested and charged a Young Offender with Aggravated Assault.

The accused in this incident is a Young Offender who is charged with:

  • One count of Aggravated Assault
  • One count of Assault with A Weapon
  • One count of Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm

In accordance with Canada’s Youth Criminal Justice Act, the North Bay Police Service cannot release the name or identifying information of the Young Offender.

On September 30, 2022, at approximately 3:30 p.m. both the victim and accused, who are known to one another, were in a parking lot on Marshall Park Drive. The accused approached the victim and made threats against the victim’s life. In order to defuse the situation, the victim left the area. At approximately 9:00 p.m. that same day, the victim and accused both attended a party in a bush area on Marshall Park Drive. Without warning, the accused approached the victim and struck the victim with a blunt object. The victim then fell to the ground at which point the accused repeatedly punched and kicked the victim. The accused fled the area prior to police arrival.

The accused was arrested by police on October 1, 2022.

The victim in this incident sustained serious, non-life threatening physical injuries as a result of the assault and was transported to hospital.

The accused was held pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
