Public Asked to Avoid Nipissing Junction Today

January 28, 2022

The North Bay Police Service is aware that the “Freedom Convoy 2022,” a convoy of transport trucks that is travelling across Canada, is planning to arrive in North Bay between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. today, January 28, 2022, on Pinewood Park Drive.

The North Bay Police Service will be working in collaboration with the Ontario Provincial Police who will be monitoring the convoy as it makes its way along the highway to North Bay.

The North Bay Police Service will have an increased police presence in the area to maintain public safety and address any potential traffic congestion that may occur as a result of the increased number of vehicles. There are also contingencies in place to reroute the general traffic around the area to avoid further congestion if required.

The North Bay Police Service is asking motorists to avoid the area of Nipissing Junction at Highway 11, Lakeshore Drive, and Pinewood Park Drive between 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on January 28, 2022 and find alternate routes to their destination.

The North Bay Police Service is anticipating that approximately 1,000 members of the convoy will be staying in North Bay through the night, departing the morning of January 29, 2022. NBPS and our policing partners have put in place appropriate contingencies to limit the impact this will have on traffic congestion.

Any updates regarding significant changes to the route or timing of the convoy will be provided to the public via the North Bay Police Service’s social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter.

The North Bay Police Service would like to thank our various policing partners who have provided updates as the convoy progresses through Ontario as well as the general public for their patience.
