Suspects Arrested in Attempted Homicide

PLEASE NOTE: The following information is a follow-up to a media release originally distributed on March 22, 2021.

At approximately 3AM on the morning of Monday, March 22, 2021, the North Bay Police Service (NBPS) received a call about suspected gunshots. Officers attended a residence in the 600-block of Morin Street and were supported by the North Bay Police Service’s Emergency Response Team.

Two male individuals were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Through extensive investigation, the NBPS identified several suspects involved in the crime. Over the following days, these suspects were located and arrested.

On March 23, 2021, North Bay Police arrested Jessica FAUBERT, age 30, of North Bay, Ontario. FAUBERT has been charged with:

  • Two counts of Attempt to Commit Murder Using a Firearm
  • One count of Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence

North Bay Police identified the vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting and requested the assistance of the Ottawa Police Service. On March 26, 2021, members of the Ottawa Police Service located the vehicle and arrested two additional suspects: Frantzy JEAN and Ladji DIAKITE. During a search, the Ottawa Police seized a firearm believed to have been used during the incident.

Frantzy JEAN, age 36, of Ottawa, Ontario, is charged with:

  • Two counts of Attempt to Commit Murder Using a Firearm
  • Three counts of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to a Prohibition Order
  • One count of Contravening Section 117(h) of the Firearms Act Regulation
  • One count of Possession of a Weapon/Danger to public peace
  • One count of Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without holding a licence and registration certificate
  • One count of Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence and registration certificate
  • One count of occupying a motor vehicle with firearm
  • One count of possession of a loaded regulated firearm
  • One count of possession of a firearm with altered serial number

Ladji DIAKITE, age 23, of Ottawa, Ontario, is charged with:

  • Two counts of Attempt to Commit Murder Using a Firearm
  • One count of Contravening Section 117(h) of the Firearms Act Regulation
  • One count of Possession of a Weapon/Danger to public peace
  • One count of Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without holding a licence and registration certificate
  • One count of Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence and registration certificate
  • One count of occupying a motor vehicle with firearm
  • One count of possession of a loaded regulated firearm
  • One count of possession of a firearm with altered serial number

On March 29, 2021, at the request of the NBPS, members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service arrested Jessica ARMSTRONG, age 27, of Halifax, Nova Scotia. ARMSTRONG is charged with:

  • Two counts of Attempt to Commit Murder Using a Firearm

All accused are currently in custody awaiting bail hearings. There is no concern for public safety.
