The North Bay Police Service has arrested and charged a 24-year-old female and a 25-year-old male with multiple dangerous driving and weapon offences after they fled from police.
The accused in this incident are:
A 24-year-old female from North Bay, who is charged with:
- One count of Dangerous operation
- One count of Flight from peace officer
Rodrigo MARTINEZ, male, age 25, of North Bay, who is charged with:
- Four counts of Uttering Threats
- One count of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- One count of Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
- One count of Pointing a Firearm
- One count of Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm
- One count of Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- One count of Kidnapping while using certain firearms
- Two counts of Flight from peace officer
- One count of Firearm – Use while committing offence
- One count of Failure to comply with release order
- Four counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order
- Four counts of Dangerous operation
- One count of Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or Ammunition
- One count of Assault Causing Bodily Harm
On September 20, 2024, the two victims attended a local bar. While in the bar, the victims met with the two accused. After the two victims left the bar, they received threatening phone calls from the accused. The two accused stated they would be attending the victims’ residence. Police attempted a traffic stop on the accused’s vehicle, but the accused fled from police. Police pursued the vehicle to the Muskoka area and, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police’s Emergency Response Team and Canine unit, arrested the two accused in the area of Huntsville, Ontario.
Upon the arrest of accused MARTINEZ, warrants relating to an unrelated investigation were also executed. On September 4, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m. accused MARTINEZ was observed driving in a dangerous manner in the area of McNamara Street, North Bay. Later that same day, the accused was involved in an altercation with a male victim in the area of Kinsmen Beach and attempted to strike the victim with his vehicle. The accused then exited the vehicle, assaulted and threatened the victim. The accused then fled the scene.
The two accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
As part of the investigation, at this time the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing the name of the 24-year-old female accused.
