Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace

Last night North Bay Police received a 9-1-1 call reporting a dispute in the parking lot of a business on Lakeshore Drive in North Bay. Police arrested and charged:

James Deveaux, age 19, of North Bay with:

One count of Weapon Dangerous to the Public;

One count of carrying a Concealed Weapon.

It is alleged that shortly before 11 pm on November 26th, the accused was involved in a dispute with another male in the parking lot of a business on Lakeshore Drive in North Bay. The accused displayed what was reported to be a black handgun and began waiving it around. A witness called 911 immediately. As the report was being made a North Bay Officer was driving past the scene. The Officer determined the details of the dispute and arrested the accused. Located in the accused waist band was a black pellet gun that resembles a handgun.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Imitation firearms have been known to be used in criminal offences, most often to generate fear and intimidation. These imitation firearms and their quality are very similar to authentic firearms, which result in people believing they are real.In the event an imitation firearm is used in the commission of an offence, the individual will still be charged criminally.
