The North Bay Police Street Crime Unit acting in a cooperative effort with the Canada Border Services Agency conducted a search warrant on a North Bay residence. As a result police have arrested and charged:
Jeffery Pollock, age 32, of North Bay with:
•Four counts of possession of a prohibited weapon ;
•Three counts of possession for purpose of trafficking ;
•Three counts of importing a prohibited weapon; and
•One count of property obtained by crime over $5000;
It is alleged that the Canada Border Services Agency’s International Mail Processing Centre in Toronto intercepted two packages marked for delivery to a residence in North Bay. The packages were found to contain prohibited weapons. The North Bay Police Street Crime Unit worked in conjunction with the Canada Border Services Agency in obtaining a search warrant for the address. The search resulted in the seizure of:
•3 switch blades
•2 sets of brass knuckles
•114g of a purple fentanyl and heroine mixture
•87g of crystal methamphetamine
•$17,000 in Canadian Currency
The total value of the drugs is estimated at over $100,000.
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Fentanyl is an extremely dangerous drug even in small amounts. 114 grams of fentanyl, depending on its purity, represents enough powdered fentanyl to cause over 55,000 lethal overdoses.
