Media Release - 28 Year-old Female Charged with Impaired Driving

On February 25th, 2024, a 28 year-old woman from North Bay, was charged with Impaired Driving, after her vehicle became lodged in a ditch on Four-Mile Lake Road.

Just after 6pm on February 25th, officers from the North Bay Police Service were called to attend the 100 block of Four-Mile Lake Road, North Bay, in relation to a motor vehicle that was stuck in a ditch. When officers arrived, they found the driver to be showing signs of impairment, and placed her in custody. The accused was then transported to North Bay Police Service Headquarters, where further tests were conducted by a qualified Intoxilyzer Technician. Through these tests, it was determined that the accused had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in her bloodstream. She was subsequently charged with one count of Operation While Impaired by Alcohol and one count of Operation with a Blood-alcohol Concentration over 80mg.

The accused was later released on an Undertaking with a future court date.

Police are reminding the public, that being impaired by alcohol or drugs while driving carries the following immediate consequences:

7-day vehicle impoundment

A mandatory 90-day driver’s license suspension

Upon conviction, drivers face heavy fines, further driver’s license suspensions and possible jail time.
