Satellite Tracker locates Stolen Vehicle, Firearm Recovered
Officers from the North Bay Police Service Patrol section, responded to a call on Main Street East on March 23rd, in relation to a stolen vehicle with 2 firearms inside. The next day, a satellite company contacted police advising the stolen vehicle had been located. As a result of this incident, a female has been arrested and charged.
The accused in this matter is:
Charmaine CANNON, female, age 49, of North Bay, who is charged with;
- One count of Theft of Motor Vehicle
- One count of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- One count of Possession of a Firearm for the Purpose of Trafficking
- One count of Theft Under $5000
- Three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance
- One count of Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition
- One count of Driving While Under Suspension (Highway Traffic Act)
On March 23rd, 2024, at around 5pm, officers from the North Bay Police Service responded to a call for service involving a stolen vehicle. It became apparent that a female, who was known to the victim, was at the residence and stole the victim’s wallet, phone, car keys and $200 cash, while the victim was asleep. The accused then stole the victim’s 2018 Toyota Camry, which had 2 firearms located inside. Police began their investigation, and just before 8am the next morning, the North Bay Police Service received a call from a vehicle satellite company, indicating they were tracking the stolen vehicle. Police attended the area of McIntyre Street East, located the vehicle, and arrested the accused. One of the two firearms were recovered at that time. The accused was also found to be in possession of small quantities of three controlled substances.
Seizures by police as a result of this investigation;
- 0.4 grams of Crystal methamphetamine
- 0.5 grams of Fentanyl
- 10 Hydromorphone pills
- 2018 Toyota Camry
- 12 Gauge shot gun and ammunition
A Browning BLR Lever-action 30.06 was not recovered, and is still outstanding. The accused was held for a bail hearing, and was remanded in custody until March 27th.
